    In the dark, cold winter months, we typically get less exposure to sunlight. Sunlight triggers the production of vitamin D in the skin. Vitamin D is important for serotonin production because it helps convert tryptophan, an amino acid found in food, into serotonin in the brain.     Helps wind down & sleep
